Joni R. Skeegan (nee Mishkind), beloved wife of Bill Skeegan, loving mother of Lyndsay Skeegan and Allison (Skeegan) Fournier, and grandmother of Liv, Maddie, and Harper, suddenly passed away on June 27, 2025.
Devoted daughter, mother, and grandmother, and close friends with her siblings, Howard and Ferne (deceased).
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, she graduated from Ohio State University and later obtained her masters in Speech Therapy from Kent State University.
Joni worked as a speech therapist at the VA Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, before meeting and eventually marrying her husband, Bill, and moving to Boston, where she continued to work as a speech therapist.
The family moved to Broward County, Florida, in 1985. Joni worked as a speech therapist at various Broward County hospitals, such as Sunrise Health and Medical Center and NW Medical Center. She retired a decade ago and took on her most important role as a full-time “Mema” to her three grandchildren, who were her world.
She traveled frequently with her husband, Bill, children, and grandchildren. She was an active Hadassah board member, an avid Mahjong and Canasta player, and had numerous friends. She was known for her smile, kindness, generosity, compassion, and willingness to always help others. She will be incredibly missed.
