You were one of my sister's closest friends.  She felt your absence every day.  But a memory I have is when I joined "the ladies" for lunch with my granddaughter, who was a toddler then.  After we ate, you led the table in a pre-K sing along with her.  Rest in peace.

To have known Joyce is to have loved her.  Some days when I feel down, all I have to do is think of that most wonderful smile of hers - and my spirits are lifted immediately.  Thank you Joyce for being even a small part of my life.

When our now 15+-year-old granddaughter was less than two years old, we visited my sister Cindi in Florida.  Cindi, Joyce, and a few others joined us for lunch at a Sweet Tomatoes restaurant.  Perhaps there were around eight of us women, all if not most were educators.  Joyce led us all in singing children's songs with our granddaughter; the other customers seemed to enjoy or motley serenade.

Love and kindness flowed easily through Joyce. This love and kindness always came through with her smile. It was that infectious smile of hers that did me in.  Whenever Joy and I would visit Cindi and Paul Elias in Florida, it seemed that we could always count on seeing Joyce and Jerry.
Although we were not very close, the memories that I have of here will be in my heart forever.
SMILE ON JOYCE!  This world is a better place because of you.  SMILE ON!

I am so grateful for the friendship that Joyce had with my sister Cindi.  A fond memory I have when I was in Florida with my now 13 year old grand daughter, Ivy.  Cindi gathered some of her friends to meet Ivy and myself for lunch at Sweet Tomatoes.   Ivy was just a toddler then with a toddler attention span.  Joyce started singing pre-school songs with Ivy to the point that others in the restaurant were also entertained.   She had a whole table of women singing with this little girl.  I still smile at that memory.


   Deepest sadness accompanies this note written in loving memory of Joyce Rubin.
   Mel writes:  "Jerry and I go back a long, long time.  I was just a kid of 15 when he and I met at Stuyvesant High School.
   "We remained friends for all these years.  How well I remember the backyard pool parties in Baldwin -- where Joyce was the perfect hostess.   Where, oh where have all the years gone?
   "Beverly joins me in sending our love and prayers.  Joyce will remain in our thoughts and in our hearts forever.

This is a tribute to Joyce, whom we met way back in '64 on our
honeymoons in Miami. Despite her health issues she managed to keep going and never quit.  Our two sons, born just 3 weeks apart (back in. Trump Village). We will always cherish those good times back in Baldwin, LI as well as the times we visited in Florida.
She will be missed.
