Judith Spurlock (formerly O’Dell) passed away August 11th, 2026, at the age of 86. She was born December 1st, 1939, in Rochester, NY to her parents Robert O’Dell and Margaret O’Dell. Judy’s early life was spent in Rochester alongside her brother, William O’Dell, before she met her future husband of 51 years, Lloyd Eugene Spurlock, during a spring break in South Florida. Judy and Gene would go on to have three children, Shelby, Vicky, and Rob, and would eventually move permanently to the Ft. Lauderdale, FL area in 1974.
Outside of raising her children, Judy also had a long-standing career in logistics, working for Crowley Corporation for over 24 years before her retirement. She loved to spend her time with her family, whether that be leading her annual Christmas cookie making marathons, browsing the aisles of the nearest department store, or going on a cruise with Gene. She could be found caring for family pets, especially her beloved Shamrock and Muffin or staying up late to watch an action movie with her grandkids. She was a dedicated mother, wife and partner, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and honorary family as follows: Shelby Spurlock, Vicky and Dave Taylor, Rob Spurlock, Greg Niesen, Carrie DiRenno, Michelle Graham, Michael Niesen, Kylie and Ryan Van Cleave, Bailey Spurlock and Shandee Mounteer, Annabeth Niesen, Caden Graham, Bristol Graham, and countless others whose lives were touched by Judy.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Margaret O’Dell, her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jean O’Dell, her husband of 51 years, Gene Spurlock, and her partner of 11 years, Stavros Zahos.
She was our rock; the one person we could depend upon no matter what. We will forever miss our matriarch and the tie that binds us all together.
A Funeral Service will be held at Star of David Memorial Chapel, 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, US, on August 16, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am. Followed by Committal in Devotions Mausoleum in Bailey Cemetery.
