I can’t believe it has now been three years since Julie’s passing. Time goes by so quickly yet it is so precious. That is why we need to live every moment as though it was our last. That is how Julie lived and would want us to live as we go forward in this world. Straight ahead, Julie Beans! We all loved you. Oh, and GO RANGERS!

Julie Beans
You are forever embedded in my psyche teaching us all that “life is just a bowl of cherries...
don’t take it serious......🎶🎶🎶
You embellished your whole existence with music.
I will “miss you madly...” Mr. Rubin.
With much love,
Flo (beans)

My thoughts and prayers are with family and friends.
I like thousands of musicians have Mr. Rubin to thank for his leadership and love of music that has blessed our lives. I have great memories from Albany Avenue Elementary playing in the jazz band and getting to play solos while being mentored by a great jazz artist/ trombonist. His inspiration as an educator influenced me to pursue my own dreams of teaching jazz studies and performance at the university level.
I'm forever indebted to Mr. Rubin.
May you rest in peace.

It was a blessing to have Mr. Rubin as my music teacher in elementary school. He had the credentials and expertise to teach music at any level yet he choose to teach at Albany ave. He provided me and countless other students an excellent music foundation and we will be forever grateful. He is honored by the legacy of fine people and musicians he has taught. I remember him as being a really cool guy and sharp dresser as well!

The music world, friends and family have lost a great man this week. Julie “Beans” Rubin was my teacher, mentor, great friend and the closest man to a father I ever had. I owe my career and love of music to his inspiration, encouragement and musical expertise. He took me under his wing and taught me everything I needed to know in order to succeed in life. In addition to the countless trombone lessons he gave me, I will never forget the days we spent together playing ice hockey, handball, going to Ranger games, exposing me to the New York City music scene and eventually even bringing me on some of his gigs to get my feet wet. A more kind and generous man you will never find. Rest on peace, Julie. You had a great run! I will never forget you.
