Karin Arlene Melnikoff Moskowitz Dana of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully in hospice on November 8, 2022. Karin was born in The Bronx, New York on February 14, 1942 to Nathan and Rose (Lehrhaupt) Melnikoff and was their first-born child. She grew up in Bayside, NY and graduated from Bayside High School in 1959. Karin then attended Hunter College and later continued her education at Queensborough Community College where she earned her Nursing degree in 1975.
Karin moved, with her daughters, to Florida in 1979. This was a life-changing move because she met her husband and true love, Bob Dana. They were married for 38 years before he passed away just 3 months ago. They had a wonderful life together that included traveling throughout the United States and abroad. Their favorite mode of travel being cruises, which they both loved and were able to enjoy several with Karin’s sister Linda and her partner.
Karin had a lifelong love of performing which started during her school years and continued through retirement in her community’s shows. When it came to animals, Karin had a big heart. There was always an animal in her life starting in childhood with Gigi and most recently her beloved rescue pup Katie. In later years, she became an advocate for animal rescue and believed in “adopt don’t shop”. What Karin was most passionate about though were her grandchildren. She had a special relationship with each one of them and was an amazing and loving grandma.
Karin is survived by two children, Tracey Moskowitz Tsang and Darcey Moskowitz Rusian (Tony), whom she shared with her former husband Jeffrey Moskowitz; four grandchildren Rebecca and Emily Tsang and Ryan and Rachel Rusian; four stepchildren: Renee M. Shrout (Ed Bienkowski) Mark Dana (Frances); Mary Lynn Stone (Bart); Robert T. Dana (Tara); seven step-grandchildren: Michael (Jessi), Stephen (Lindsey), Matthew, Joshua, Madelyn, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Christian and Corey and three great step-grandchildren: Evie, Emily and Beau; her two siblings, Gary Bruce Melnikoff (Carol) and Linda Phyliss Melnikoff; nieces Marcy Melnikoff Taustine (Mark) Amy Melnikoff Rosenberg (Jon) and one great niece and 3 great nephews.
