I have known Lois since our time in Flushing, Queens, N.Y.. when she, along with her husband Lou, her son Marc, and her Dad Murray, moved next door to us.  Marc and my son were about the same age and were playmates.  When my daughter Alyssa was born, Lois often offered to watch her for me . Summers would find us all in bungalows in the Catskills, relaxing and playing canasta.  I  also recall how Lois enjoyed cruises with Louie, how she cared for her somewhat irascible [but always lovable and amusing) father, Murray, and always working on her needlepoint.  We often chatted over coffee in each other's kitchen--something I missed when our family  moved to Florida.  We kept up by phone (no texting then).  All of us were reunited when Lois, Lou, and Marc moved to Florida.  I will miss her, but cherish all the good times we had together.

Marc,  your Mother meant a lot to me, I always enjoyed the times we spent together especially the holidays with you in the kitchen and she and I sitting there watching you cook while we laughed and talked about any story she wanted to tell, usually about you when you were young.  She had a beautiful smile and a big heart.  I am so glad that I got to spend her 90th birthday with her, I know she really enjoyed it.  You were truly blessed to have her as your Mother!  She has a place in my heart forever!

Lois was my neighbor who quickly became a good friend. Kind, helpful, loving. She is dearly missed. Prayers for Marc and his family. 

To my dear second mother Lois, no words can express the loss I feel, since I am still feeling the loss of my own mother Charlotte Schwartz, who was your oldest, dearest friend. You took over her role of calling me on the phone everyday to see how I was, sometimes twice a day. That meant so much to me to have you in my life. You and Louie were always so wonderful to my children. Eating was always involved, as you knew all the good restaurants where we would meet you both. I still remember how you took care of Louie and your cousin. 
We had the same interests, as we shared a love of needlepoint and beading. It was this June that you, me and Corey went to the needlepoint store, picked out some thread, and then went to lunch. You were a true artist and a great talent, as each one of your needlepoints were beautifully made and crafted. I remember your love of reading books, and then giving them to other people to enjoy, including myself. 
You always talked about Mark, how much you loved him and that he was an excellent cook (that I have to say I never saw you cook *laughing*). You always mentioned how he would pick you up when there was a storm, so that you weren’t in harms way. Don’t worry, now that I have his number I will keep in touch. I love you very much and will miss you greatly.
