I always think of Lou in September.  We used to go to the US Open every year.  My birthday is Sep 23 and I.miss his email filled with good wishes.  I always knew the birthday greeting would come; Lou never forgot.  He often comes to.mind when I see a tennis player wearing a baseball cap backwards.  I will never forget Lou and the important part he played in my life.  May he be resting in peace.

I am SO very sorry to hear about Louis' passing.  I had no idea! We last communicated before his last surgery, but I didn't know he was gone. What a tremendous loss.
Louis and our mutual Greg Kaladjian started a business together in the 90s. Louis and Greg were close friends for many years, and I was a friend of Greg's as well. Greg passed away, and the business never made it, but Louis and I stayed friends. That is how I remember him ... a friendly guy, who would go out of his way for others, and always had a camera to capture special moments shared together. I am sure he and Greg have reunited in Heaven, and that warms my heart. May Louis' memory be a blessing. Rest in peace my friend.

Lou and I were close friends when we lived in the same building in Sunrise.  We would speak almost every day with each other, play tennis on occasion, Amy and I would go out to dinner with Joanne and Lou.  We moved to Coconut Creek where Joanne and Lou joined us once or twice to see a show in our theater.  However we lost touch over time but would always wish each other a Happy Birthday or Holiday greeting via email.  As I was getting ready to send a birthday greeting to Lou today it dawned on me that I did not receive one from him in September and a bad feeling came over me, as Lou always would send greetings.  My son Jeremy checked Facebook and gave me the news I did not want to hear.  We were saddened by this news and our deepest sympathy for his family who he spoke with me about often, his children and grandchildren that he loved dearly and was proud of, and Joanne who he met, fell in love with, and enjoyed life to the fullest with.

I learned of Lou's death yesterday.  I had just returned from a three week trip to Italy and wondered why I had not gotten my usual birthday greeting from Lou.  We had been good friends years ago, but we still always sent birthday wishes to each other.  Louis never forgot; he was very dependable, quite meticulous  about being on time.  Finally I googled him and found his obituary.  I was so shocked and saddened by his death.
When I think of Lou, I think of tennis. We  played so many tennis games together.  Maybe I beat him once in singles.  Oh, how he could run!  One year, we set a goal to play at all the NYC tennis sites.  We certainly did not get to all, but we did play in 4 of the 5 boroughs.  I remember playing with him next to an ancient Roman aqueduct along the Appian Way, on the original center court at Indian Wells, and the classy courts in Pebble Beach.  He needed soft courts for his troublesome knees.  I cannot forget his icing routine at the end of play.
Most of all I remember a good and kind man, an honest and faithful friend.  I am so sorry he is gone.  I am happy Lou  had a loving family and girlfriend who enriched his life and bought him joy..  May he rest in peace..

We met in Oneonta 22 years ago.  Aly and I becoming best friends, talking and calling each other all the time when we were home.  Competing for the phone ... well, we kind of took over the phone in the house.  I know how much you really loved the hundreds of phone calls!  LOL.  We would have weekend sleepovers at your apartment in Bayside.  I still remember picking out movies to watch from your extensive movie collection that was typed out in ABC order!! When I think back, I remember you were always off to play tennis, wearing your hat backwards and smiling.  When Aly told me you were in hospice I couldn’t believe it.  Cancer really isn’t fair and you were taken way too soon.  We will all miss you!  Love you!

May the good memories of Mr. Louis continue to be a blessing.  Our hearts are with you.  We had the honor to briefly meet Mr. Louis when he had a nice surprise dinner for Ms. Joanne.  I was able to see how he had not only a very caring and loving spirit and enjoyed conversing with everyone.  The teachers who attended to surprise Ms. Joanne were there as close to the pre-arranged time Mr. Louis had suggested.  We all enjoyed and were blessed by his presence and kindness.   Also, this Summer while we went to the Sunrise Library to check out a book for my son, we were blessed to see Mr. Louis at the library.  He was checking out few books himself and my son got to tell Mr. Louis how he was completing the  Summer reading program.   Mr. Louis spoke with my 9 year old son, Christopher and I were immediately able to see his kind spirit.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time in hope that this may make the process even a shred less difficult.  May the memories of his kindness toward everyone and anyone bring you comfort and peace.

Met my dad's cousin Louis several years ago and looking into his eyes was like looking into my dad's eyes. They were like brothers for the short time they had together in Florida; Louis filling the void for my dad years after my uncle passed, and dad being the brother Louis never had. I didn't get to have a lot of time with Louis, with me and my family living in NY, but I did feel a connection with him which became more important to me when my dad passed, as Louis was the last connection I had to that generation of the Mehl family. Louis shared  stories with me about our family that I didn't know about and I had learned about a vital part of our family's history that he didn't know and so I was able to share that with him. Being a natural grandpa, he seemed to instantly click with my son who loved him very much. He was truly an intense person and I already feel like something deep is missing. I know you will watch over your beloved Joanne, your girls and your grandchildren, all of whom already feel the empty space you've occupied in their lives and hearts. Love you, cousin Louis. May you rest in pain-free peace and be reunited with the loving family members you've missed so terribly...and please give my dad a hug...xo

I first met you in July 2014 three months before your Aly married my Danny. My sister and I were vacationing in Fort Lauderdale with our parents and I wanted to meet you before the wedding. You and Joanne agreed to meet us for lunch at our hotel. My first impression of you was that you loved your daughters and grandchildren more than anything.  Family was so important to you. Over the next few years you would again meet Dolores and I for lunch when we were in Florida. You were overjoyed when Aly and Danny gave you another grandchild, Ryan, to love.  You called her “your blessing”.  The past year we texted and spoke occasionally. You always asked how my parents were doing. You were in so much pain and I knew your frustration at not being able to play tennis.  I know you are now at peace and pain free. Rest In Peace.

My dear sweet Lou,
From the moment we met 9 years and 2 months ago we were both smitten.  We knew how fortunate and blessed we were to find one another.  You have been my true one and only love and I am so grateful.  We are a testament that on line dating has success stories.  Thanks to POF we have loved, laughed, learned and grown together.  Lou you were my biggest fan, encouraging me, comforting me and always listening to me.  I am more confident and stronger because of you and your love.  You were always so eager to tell everyone the story of how we met.  I would walk into room and people would say, "Joanne so nice to finally meet you."  They knew everything about our story.  Your love and devotion swelled my heart and kept me smiling always.  The most cherished memory is how you composed the most beautiful valentine poems using lines from our favorite love songs.  You always included a rainbow which was so appropriate.  As we walked the boardwalk on Hollywood Beach on our first date, we looked up into the sky and a rainbow was shining above us.

Where to begin ???  We have had so many memories over the years. The vein, the walks, American dreams, the vcr tapes, the cowboy hat, DEP “your dad is who”, marylin Monroe, pigs, the bayside pool club, roller skating, the red wine, adventure land, doing laundry for hours!, Whitestone, sharing the car 😬, the us open, the Tripod, Nursing school, FIT, toys r us, my NYC second grade report, Atari, Trivia persuit, bailing me out of a million and 1 not great situations, our restaurant in larchmont, the air conditioner, cheese- less pizza, Mariana and salad, your rain boots, great adventure, Disney, taking me on every interview in manhattan bc I did not understand the subways , my parking tickets,  etc etc etc. I am grateful for everything you have done for me , given me, and how u loved me. You are an amazing man taken to soon. It wasn’t supposed to be this way, it isn’t fair. I will miss you more then you know or would ever think. Rest In Peace and hope you are dancing with your mom again. I will always let your memory live on forever and Ryan will always know she was your blessing and a light in your life.
