Manuel (Mendy) W. Gross, age 95, of Boca Raton, FL., passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Born in New York City and raised in Passaic, NJ, also lived in Clifton, NJ and Sunrise, FL. For over sixty years, he was the beloved husband of Muriel Gross (deceased). A World War II hero who fought in Normandy on D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge, and earned a Purple Heart from a battle injury and a Soldier’s Medal for saving another man’s life. Former owner of Carriage Trade Limousine service and retired postal worker. He is an accomplished (and published) songwriter and poet extraordinaire, who had a poem for every occasion and every person he encountered. He was loved by all, with his positive perspective, keeping everything “light and bright” and believed in the power of “prayer, positive thinking and humor” – that was his trademark. Loving father of David and wife Ellen of Lakewood Ranch, FL; Sherry and Manny Serrano (deceased) of Clifton, NJ; and Hal and wife Jamie of Glen Rock, NJ. Devoted and cherished grandfather and great-grandfather of Joshua, Jason Serrano and wife Denise, Jordan Serrano and wife Nickole, Max, Rachel, Sarah, Jake, Sydney, Jacklynn, Madison, and Isabella. Also survived by his companion, Claire Shapiro. Donations can be made in his memory to Wounded Warrior Project and MAZON . A virtual graveside service will be held on Monday, August 3rd at 11:45 EDT on Zoom.
