Martin Calvin Minch was born on February 22, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York, to Sylvia and George Minch. He grew up in Peekskill, New York, along with his younger sister, Beverly. Much of his youth was spent with his extended family, including his cousins, Bonnie and Roberta Honigsberg. He graduated from Peekskill Military Academy in 1959, attended a year at the University of Rhode Island, and then graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 1963. His first marriage with Barbra gave him the two greatest joys in his life—his daughter, Melaine, and son, Danny. “Marty” was truly a renaissance man. He started his career in advertising in the 1970s, winning several awards. In the 1990s, he started his own successful business making folk art pieces along with his partner, Claire Joyce. In 2010, he moved to Florida to be closer to his family. He spent his years in Florida pursuing his many artistic talents. Many of his works of art were displayed at the Boca Raton Museum, where he also taught. Marty could find a work of art in the most mundane item. He had many passions, including bowling, gardening, antiquing, and photography, in addition to spending as much time as possible with his granddaughter, Addie. His most recent relationship with Jill Lennon brought him great happiness. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and his daughter. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family and friends, including his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Minch and Elisabeth Motley, and his granddaughter, Adelaide Minch.
Anything goes…anything can happen…and that’s very exciting.
