

Milton "Milt” Block, age 92, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m., March 22nd, 2014 at his home, in Margate, Florida. Although we will miss him in body, we will never forget the impact the Husband, Dad, and Poppys', spirit has made on each and everyone of us.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 16th, 1921 to the parents of Jacob and Mollie (Barron) Block. As a young man, Milton worked as a cook and baker, at the restaurant, his parents managed, in Brooklyn, New York.
On October 23rd, 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army. Serving his country for three years, Milton, earned the rank of Sergeant with the 139th Military Police Company during World War II with active service before being honorably discharged on November 26th, 1945.
In 1949, he joined the New York City Police Department, Mounted Division at the 61st Precinct, Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. Milton was on the police force, for 23 years, before retiring, in June of 1972.
In April of 1953, Milton's friend, set him up, on a blind date, with Shirley Zisk. It was, love at first sight, and they were married on September 5th, 1953. Milton, and his wife, welcomed their first child, a daughter, into the world, on August 2nd, 1962. Two years later, they welcomed, a son, on October 1st, 1964. After his retirement, he moved his family to Margate, Florida in August of 1972.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving daughter, Renee Block Castellon married to Paul Castellon of North Lauderdale, Florida; son Andrew Block, of Richmond Hill, ON Canada; adoring grandchildren, Jennifer Castellon, Ryan Castellon, Sebastian Block and Noah Block.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Shirley Block, who passed away on April 29th, 2003, just a few months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.
A Graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 25th, 2014 at Temple Beth El Memorial Gardens, in Davie, Florida.
