

Philip Robert Schaap passed away at 1:15 pm on July 15, 2021, at Florida Medical Center, after a long battle with complications from Covid pneumonia. Phil was born in Manhattan, NY of father Richard Nathan Schaap and mother Gladys Goldberg. He attended and graduated from Massanutten Military Academy, Seton Hall University and served in the United States Air Force while residing in Rockville Center, NY.
His world changed when he met his future wife Barbara Stoner at Valentine Dance at Temple Israel, Lawrence, NY. Their 65 year marriage began on June 3, 1956 at Temple Beth El, Woodmere, NY. Phil worked for the Armstrong Cork Company and other related industries in wholesale sales. Phil and Barbara proudly opened the Fantasy Playhouse, Merrick Rd, Lynbrook, NY in 1975. Phil built a 150 seat theater complex and produced the original musicals that Barbara wrote. Their grown children, Julie, David and Adam performed, taught and directed the shows and theater school. Phil drove the show bus that carried the shows to camps, youth centers, parks and libraries during the summer months. He drove their class A motor home to all the corners of the US.
They retired to Florida in 1999 and began cruising. Phil worked for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and the couple toured Alaska, Mexico, Central America, Caribbean Islands and Canada. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Jerusalem, Israel. Phil is survived by his wife Barbara 84, Daughter Julie Ann(Norman Rolle) David Rolle 64 of Tamarac, FL, son David Michael(Cindy Landerman) Schaap 62 of Toronto, Canada. granddaughters Victoria Ashira 27 of Coral Springs, FL, Samantha Rachel 24 of Long Island, NY Ananda 31, of Montreal, Canada, Mika 11 of Toronto, Canada, grandson Cody 8 of Toronto, Canada. great grandson Perseus 8 of Coral Springs, FL and Nellie 1 of Long Island, NY.
