Philip Schimmel was born in Frankfurt Germany on February 3, 1923 and after fleeing Germany before the start of World War II he spent the war years in London England before coming to the United States where he met his wife Ruth of 54 years. He spent most of his professional career in Jewish Education and was principal of the religious school in Troy NY, Fall River MA and Wayne NJ before retiring to Coral Springs Florida in 1991. He is survived by his son David Schimmel of Wayne, NJ.

A funeral service for Philip will be held Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM at Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Chapel, 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM at Star of David Garden of Jacob, 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068.
