Phil was born August 22, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA, the youngest child of Samuel and Rose (Berest) Vogel. He was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School for Boys and was married for 50 years to Shirley Adelman Vogel who predeceased him in 2003. They were parents of Mark Vogel (William Denebeim) of London United Kingdom and Miami Beach and Susan Vogel Saladoff (Eitan Priel) of Ashland, Oregon. Phil also had four grandchildren, Rebecca and Dana Saladoff and Allton and Samuel Vogel-Denebeim. Predeceasing him were his siblings Marian Prober and Simon and Harry Vogel.
For 97 years, Phil lived a long, healthy and happy life. He was an ardent Philadelphia sports fan attending Phillies, Eagles and Warriors/76ers games while living in Philadelphia and spending hours watching these same teams on TV later in life. He raised his family first in Philadelphia and then Elkins Park, PA. After retirement, Phil spent almost 50 years living in Boca Raton, where he loved playing golf and gin rummy, and only moved away from Florida due to the pandemic. For the last five years of his life Phil became a true international traveler spending six months of the year living with Susan in Ashland and six months living with Mark in London.
Professionally, Phil spent 20 years as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service after which he founded his own tax consultancy practice. Among his clients was the former owner of the Philadelphia Eagles who he assisted with managing his various business and family interests. Another client was a former head coach of the Eagles who gave Phil three of his most prized possessions, two game balls celebrating Eagle wins in NFC Championship games and a watch celebrating the Eagles participation in the 1981 Super Bowl.
Phil was truly a king among men, so caring, kind, gentle, generous, and always with a big smile. He gave his love unconditionally and expressed his love and gratitude often in these last years. He brought joy to everyone who crossed paths with him. He will be missed for sure.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in the Judea J Mausoleum, located at 7701 Bailey Rd, North Lauderdale, FL, 33068 on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 2:45 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those who wish to honor Phil’s memory consider contributions to a philanthropy of the donor’s choice.
