

Roberta Kaplan of Tamarac, FL, wife of the late Allen Kaplan, passed away on June 26, 2026 at the age of 89. She was born on March 13, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY, and was the daughter of the late Irving and Eva Hirsch.
Raised in Brooklyn, Roberta graduated from James Madison High School and Brooklyn College with a Bachelor's degree. Roberta met the love of her life, Allen, on a blind date, while he was serving in the Army. The two were married on December 23, 1956, and were inseparable for 66 years.
Roberta began a career as a second grade teacher in the New York City public schools until her son Jay was born. After the birth of their daughter Ilene, Roberta and Allen moved from Brooklyn to Wantagh Long Island in 1966, where they raised their children. Years later, Roberta returned to school to pursue her lifelong desire to care for patients as a health care professional, obtaining an Associates Degree in X-ray Technology from Nassau Community College. Graduating at the top of her program, she started a career as an X-ray Technician at H.I.P. in Hicksville, NY. After retiring in 1992, she and Allen moved to Tamarac, FL. In Florida, Roberta volunteered at University Hospital - Tamarac. She also served as President of her condominium association for many years.
Roberta is survived by her loving family: Ilene Jacobs (daughter) and Gordon Jacobs (son-in-law) of Boca Raton, FL; Jay Kaplan (son) and Linda Kaplan (daughter-in-law) of Westfield, NJ. She leaves behind four grandchildren: Matthew Jacobs and Amy, Brian, and Alex Kaplan. She was also the caring Aunt of Irwin (deceased), Paul and Wendy Berkowitz.
