The Abers family has my deepest condolences. Losing a loved one is so difficult, but may this scripture at 2 Thessalonians. 2:16&17 have some consolation for you during this difficult time. It lovingly reads, “Moreover, may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of undeserved kindness, 17 comfort your hearts and make you firm” during this challenging time in your life.

Aunt Roz:

I will never forget the time I spent with her together as students at Jersey City State. We had fun.

I will always remember the Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and the frozen leftover cake that stayed in the freezer for years. We always wondered what other types of frozen delicacies might be accompanying the cake in the basement freezer.

Further memories include the house on Highland Avenue and most importantly the goose Silvester, Holmer, George Washington Abers.

She was a maternal force that ran the family like a Chief Executive Officer. Rest in peace Aunt Roz I can envision mom greeting you with open arms in heaven.

I have a few special memories. One is when Roz and Geri were in Saks picking out my layette. I didn't exist, so I let those two do their thing. It was a sight to behold. The sales girl gave me that you need help sweetie look but I knew better.
Second is Roz hiding in the bushes when some folks she did not want to see at Geri's shiva walked in. She also dropped an entire box of silverware.
Lastly, were evenings spent after Bern died and after my divorce.
Two kindred souls experiencing a different life event, but bonding nonetheless.
Rest in peace Aunt Roz....
