Ruth Kantor passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the age of 88. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Samuel Kantor, and brother, Teddy Freedman. Ruth was born on October 28, 1926 and lived most of her life in New York, where she and Sam owned and operated a laundry-dry cleaning business and enjoyed being members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary at Tarrytown Boat Club. They became snowbirds after purchasing a home in Tamarac, Florida, in the 1990s, at which time she commented every day that nobody told her how crazy the weather would be. Despite this, they eventually lived in Tamarac year-round. Ruth enjoyed gambling and boating and never met an individual she couldn’t befriend.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Barbara Berger (significant other Alan Wiener) of New Jersey and Phyllis Biderman (significant other Lowell Schwartz) of Arizona, and grandchildren, Bill Berger (domestic partner Amanda Fisher), Ken Berger (wife Annabelle Berger), Lauren Motamedinia (husband Shahab Motamedinia), and David Biderman (fiancé Kelly Eggers) and great-grandchildren Yasmine Bengharsa and Adam Bengharsa .
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Ruth’s name to Morton Plant Mease Foundation at 1200 Druid Road South, Clearwater, FL 33756 or www.mpmf.org or a charity of their choice.
