Shelly Goldman passed away on August 17, 2026 at the age of 92. Born to parents Jack and Eva on September 9, 1933, he was raised on Tapscott Street and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in East New York in 1951. Shelly then enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served his country as a radioman during the Korean War and received the USCG Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
In 1956 he met and married his first love, Arlene Fleisher. They shared 54 wonderful years together, raising two daughters, Ivy and Bari, and helping to raise three grandchildren, Jared, Emily, and Lily. During the course of their marriage they traveled extensively, riding camels in Egypt, buying perfume in Paris, and eating pizza in Italy. They also enjoyed all New York City had to offer, attending all of the best Broadway shows and dining at the city's top restaurants. After retiring from a long career as a merchandise manager for Jamesway Corporation, he and Arlene moved to Coconut
Creek, Florida where they enjoyed spending time with their new circle of friends until Arlene passed in 2012.
In 2015, Shelly opened a new chapter when he met Beverly and subsequently relocated to Coral Lakes in Boynton Beach. Here he filled his days volunteering with the neighborhood watch, dancing the night away at one of the Coral Lakes Dance Club dinner parties, playing poker in the clubhouse, watching Bev perform in the Coral Lakes Theater, or planning his next cruise. He loved spending time with his blended family Randi,
Werner, Lea and Luke, and Sunshine.
Shelly is survived by his children and grandchildren Ivy Smolin, Bari Lotts, Jared Smolin, Emily Smolin, and Lily Goldman; his sons-in-law Roy Hulick and Stephen Lotts; his partner of 11 years, Beverly Sisisky; and many friends and acquaintances who have met and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Eva Goldman; his brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Bernice Goldman; his son-in-law Richard Smolin; and his wife Arlene Goldman.
Shelly was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
