Susie was a gift to this world and a gift to our family. Best friends with my mom for over 60 years, she was like an aunt to me, someone I cherish deeply. I can't remember a time with Susie that didn't include the kind of laughter that leaves you breathless. She and Janice and my mom were a trio. They were kindred spirits and they'd move the world for each other. That kind of friendship is rare and eternal. Susie may be gone, but her heart lives on inside us. She was a beautiful soul, kind and loving and selfless.  I love you so much, Susie. Thank you for blessing us with your life, love, and friendship. --Erika

A friendship that lasts 60 years speaks volumes of a person’s character. This is how long my mom was friends with Susie.   Loyal, honest, caring, compassionate, and genuine were all traits Susie exemplified.   Susie, Janice, and my mom were like “sistas,” my mom would say.  All of my memories of Susie involved some sort of laughter or deep conversation about psychology or politics.  She was passionate.  Susie had a beautiful smile and never aged.  She is gone way too soon and will be missed greatly.

What I know of Susan is what was shared with me by my mother, Janice. Through the years, I learned about Susan, the friend--the conversations that would carry on through the evening (or until Sheila fell asleep), the impassioned political discussions, and her tireless fight to beat an illness thought by many to be "unbeatable." While forging these timeless relationships, Susan upheld a grace and independence that too was timeless. When I saw her last, she was smiling and strong--a true lady. Leave the political fight to us, Susan, now it is your turn to rest in peace.

Susan has been a special part of my life from the very start. Friends who are family are the most valued gifts. My mother Janice's two best friends from childhood were/are Susan and Sheila. I am in awe over the bond between the 3 of them, no matter time or distance.  These names always bring a smile to my face and excitement as to when we would get together again. Susan never missed an occasion to travel north to be with us. Always endless laugher, love, and conversation. I loved hearing the 3 friends reminisce about stories from their childhood. They got funnier with each telling.  Susan was a ray of sunshine, so smart and beautiful inside and out. She had strong remarkable beliefs, and was so passionate. She was a brave warrior, a graceful fighter, and I only pray she is at peace. I will miss her terribly, a part of my heart she will hold always.  I am blessed to have her in my memories.  I will treasure the many photos and videos, the stories, the belly laughs, and milestones we shared as an extended family.  I send love to all who will miss her presence, especially my Mom and Sheila. A bond that strong can never break. She will live on with us always. 

Susan and I have been friends since we were 12 years old.  We were more like sisters than friends.  We shared our thoughts, hopes, fears, interests and everything else that goes into making a relationship complete.  She was very passionate about everything that was important to her; her family, friends and definitely her politics.  She was the most courageous person I know.  She kept a positive attitude, even at her most trying times.  Her passing has created a tremendous loss for me.  I will treasure all my wonderful memories of her.  Susan will be missed every day if my life.

I first met Susie in kindergarten.  We became fast friends.  Then when we were about to start middle school in seventh grade, Janice moved into the neighborhood, and we became a trio.  It didn't matter if there were lapses of time Or distance between us over these past 63 years, whenever we did speak or see each other it was as if it were yesterday.  Susie had a huge heart.  She was kind, thoughtful, caring, gentle and sweet.  She loved greatly.  Her family, her cousins, her friends were all important to her.  She shared so many wonderful stories and memories about everyone, and was so very proud of us all.  My family and I loved Susie.  She was a wonderful and loyal friend and sister to me.  Susie loved to talk about politics, and was very passionate about it.  Not coincidentally,  Susie passed away the same day as Ruth Bader Ginsberg, two tzadik's.  We will all miss you so much.
