

Sylvia Gordon Donnenfeld Kuhr passed on June 20, 2021, at age 99. She was born to William and Sarah Gordon in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson HS in Brooklyn, received her B.A. from NYU and Masters in Education from Columbia Teachers College.
Sylvia was a woman before her time. She had a long career in education as a teacher and a school administrator at JHS 189 Queens, NY. After retirement she moved to Tamarac FL and became a travel agent, Principal of a Hebrew School and President of the local chapter of ORT America. Her curiosity about the world led her to learn the latest in technology; email at 80, Facebook at 90, Zoom at 99. She loved to play cards with her friends at Woodlands CC. In the past she enjoyed playing bridge, mahjongg, golf, tennis and traveling to exotic places. She was an avid reader and books were her companions in her last year. Sylvia believed in learning as a way to find joy and purpose in life. She was a force to be reckoned with and will be remembered for her strength of character, competency, intelligence, compassion, courage and sheer grit.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Peter Hoffman, her daughter and son-in-law, Roni Donnenfeld and Sucosh Norton, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Abraham Donnenfeld, and her second husband Alvin Kuhr.
Graveside services will be held at Star of David Memorial Gardens at 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale Thursday, June 24 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to a charity of your choice.To share online condolences visit Star of David's website Dignitymemorial.com.
