Alta Jean Maniord, born on June 10, 1940, in Noble, Oklahoma, to Steven and Mable Cox. She passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, with her beloved dog Tinker by her side. One of eleven children, Alta moved with her family to Weedpatch, California, at the age of nine, where she attended school and worked in the fields alongside her loved ones.
In 1957, Alta married the love of her life, Donald Eugene Maniord, at just sixteen years old. They moved to Bakersfield, California, and together raised two children, Ronald Eugene and LaDonna Jean. Alta and Don shared sixty beautiful years of marriage until his passing in 2017.
A devoted member of the Apostolic faith, Alta dedicated her life to her church and community. She served as a teacher and administrator at the First Jesus Name School in Weedpatch and generously gave her time to countless fundraisers and church events. Her faith was her cornerstone, and she lived every day in service and devotion.
In 2021, Alta relocated to Hensley, Arkansas, with her son and daughter-in-law. There, she became a cherished member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Beebe, where she found a new church family and formed many dear friendships.
Alta is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, her daughter LaDonna, and nine of her siblings.
Alta is survived by her son Ron and his wife Danette; Ron’s children: Kristina, Nick, Samantha, and Nadeen; LaDonna’s children: Micheal and Melodie; ten great-grandchildren; her older sister Margie Patton, spiritual sister Dianne Pulse, LPC church family, and her faithful companion, Tinker.
Thank you to Bishop Dr. John Scheel and his loving wife, Sister Vickie Scheel and Pastor Jason Scheel and his loving wife, Sister Violet Scheel, for their phone calls, visits, prayers, and encouragement through this difficult time.
Alta will be remembered for her unwavering faith in God and deep commitment to her church.
