Anita June Chamberlin, 86, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025. Born December 2, 1938, in Maryville, Missouri, Anita was the daughter of the late James Steele and Mildred McIntyre. She was preceded in death by her brother James McIntyre and her husband Gary Chamberlin. She is survived by her 3 children, Bill Chamberlin, Nancy Childress, and Neil Chamberlin, her son in law, Robert Childress, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anita earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State University. It was there she met the love of her life, Gary Chamberlin. The couple married and moved to Denver, Colorado, where Anita taught in the Denver Public Schools and embraced the joys of raising a family. Her legacy continues through her 5 beloved grandchildren and 6 great grand-children who brought her endless pride and joy.
In 1969, Anita and her family relocated to North Little Rock, Arkansas, where she became an integral part of the Park Hill Christian Church community. Over the decades, she served faithfully in many roles, including elder, trustee, and member of the diaconate, offering her time, energy, and heart to the church she loved.
A lifelong learner with a green thumb, Anita was a certified Master Gardener who found joy in nature and beauty in every bloom. She devoted countless volunteer hours to gardening projects throughout the community. She also enjoyed the camaraderie of bridge, a game she played with skill and enthusiasm.
Anita will be remembered for her warm spirit, unwavering faith, and steadfast dedication to her family, church, and community. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and love.
A visitation service will be held at Park Hill Christian Church on June 23rd at 10am followed by a memorial service at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Park Hill Christian Church in Anita’s memory.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
