He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lynn and Troy, and a sister, Delores Fisher. He is survived by his sister, Floy (Bob) Harper; his wife, Jo Anne Fisher; stepchildren Douglas Bonner, Dawn Guthridge, and Dorothy Barton; as well as a niece, nephew, cousins, and a large extended family.
As a young man, in the Olyphant Church of Christ, Woody received Jesus Christ as Lord of his life and lived with love in his heart for all things good and decent. He was a farm boy growing up, plowing fields as soon as he could reach the controls of his dad’s tractor. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force, from which he retired. His tours of duty included Vietnam, Italy, England, and a remote site in Alaska, experiences he often recounted through many colorful stories.
After his active military service, he joined AT&T in Illinois, later transferring to Little Rock, Arkansas, and retired after 20 years. Woody was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge, where he made many good friends. He also belonged to a social group known as “the River Rats,” enjoying boating trips up and down the Arkansas River.
Woody will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends. May God bless them all.
Amen.
