My precious husband, David Edwin Bain, age 81, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, gained his heavenly reward on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. He was born on May 22, 1941 in Portsmouth, Ohio. David spent his early childhood in Fullerton and South Shore, Kentucky and Fremont, Indiana. His family moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina after his 4th grade year, where he remained through high school. A member of the track and varsity basketball teams, he graduated from Fayetteville Senior High School in 1959. In 1962, David joined the United States Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California. There, he completed electronics school, followed by submarine school in New London, Connecticut. He served briefly on the USS Long Beach in Charleston, South Carolina; the high-speed transport USS Beverly W. Reid; and the USS Scorpion. He then attended nuclear power school in Vallejo, California and Winsor Clocks, Connecticut, where he learned how to operate a nuclear reactor; served in New London, Connecticut in Submarine Flotilla 2; and as an electronics technician on the USS Tigrone. David completed his service in Brooklyn, New York on the USS Compass Island, where he participated in research to determine which navigational systems would be best suited for fleet ballistic missiles. In 1968, David discharged from the Navy, married Phyllis Fisher (North Little Rock, AR), and worked for the John Hopkins Applied Physics Lab as a technician for the Clear Air Turbulence Research Group. David also worked for NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in the cryogenics lab, and the University of Maryland Physics Department. Here, David built and operated a cyclotron, focusing on high energy research. In 1973, David and his family moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas, where helped operate Bill Fisher’s Char-Broiler Restaurant. In 1975, David returned to the electronics field and attained the position of Sr. V.P. with IK Electric. Once this business was sold, he acquired the position of estimator and project manager with Bragg's Electric and retired in 2008. In his private life, David was a faithful member of the church, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes frequently; listening to blues and jazz; was an avid sports fan; dedicated family man; and constant support to his daughter Angie in all of her endeavors. After his first wife passed away, David married Jacqueline O’Neal Dennis (Little Rock, AR) on October 1, 1994 with whom he shared over 27 years of marriage. He loved sports cars and playing basketball, and was licensed as a race car driver. David enjoyed traveling, shopping, working in the home and yard, spending time with family, and going out with friends. David was truly cherished and loved beyond words. He was a treasured father, grandfather, faithful friend, and well respected member of the community. He is survived by his wife, Jacque Bain of North Little Rock, AR; children, Angie Tucker (Nate) of Bella Vista, AR, Tracie Kee (Craig) of Benton, AR, and Jason Housley of Little Rock, AR; siblings, Nicki Idol and John Bain, Jr.; and seven grandchildren: Evie, Nicki and Ian Tucker, Alex, Ryan, Austin Kee and named last but not least, Rachel O'Neal Kee. We will have to stop here, because David's life was so rich and full, we could literally write a book.
