Dessie dedicated much of her life to education and the medical field. A lifelong learner, she earned multiple degrees and spent many years teaching and mentoring others pursuing careers in healthcare.
She was married for 53 loving years to William M. “Bill” Arnold Jr., who preceded her in death in 2018. Together they built a life rooted in dedication, humor, and companionship.
Dessie was well known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She loved reading and telling jokes and could always be counted on to share a laugh with friends and family. Her joyful spirit and playful storytelling will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Pamela Lynn Ashmore (Tony), and by her beloved and loyal tabby cat, Pumpkin, who brought her great comfort and companionship.
Dessie will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Her family and friends will remember her as a woman of intelligence, warmth, and humor whose life was marked by a love for making people smile.
