Ruben B. Carrion, 88, of North Little Rock passed away November 25, 2018. Ruben was born on October 5, 1930 in San Diego, Texas, the son of Vicente Carrion and Rosa B. Carrion and stepmother Maria S. Carrion. He moved to the Little Rock area in the 1940s. Ruben married his wife Amelia in 1955.
He worked for Target for many years until he retired in 1995. Ruben was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, a founding member of ACORN in Little Rock, and an advocate for the Hispanic community. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger days and coin collecting.
Ruben leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Amelia Carrion, sons Andrew (Karmel) Carrion of Alexander and Domingo Carrion Jr. of North Little Rock, daughters Olivia (Rick) Shelby of North Little Rock, Mary (Arturo) Guillen of North Little Rock, and Paula Carrion of Benton, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, brother Ventura (Gloria) Carreon of North Little Rock, sisters Margarita C. Sawichi of Chicago, Illinois and Maria Aurora Nevarez of Kansas City, Kansas, and a host of nephews, nieces, and extended family in Texas, Chicago, Florida, and California. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 28th at the Chapel at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., NLR.
