Edward Gale “Mickey” Williams, 77, of Bryant, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023. He was born July 21, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Fred and Neva Williams. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Dewayne, R.A., and Dale Williams; his sisters, Winnie Wolfe, Evelyn Bohanan, Wanda Williams; and his loving wife, Linda Williams.
He was drafted during the Vietnam War on September 1, 1967 into the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged on January 6, 1972 as an E3, he received a Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit, Republic of Vietnam campaign medal and a Rifle Sharpshooter Badge.
Mickey was a quiet man who loved football, basketball, baseball, jeopardy and country music.
He was a twin and had 10 brothers and sisters and enjoyed playing basketball in school
He spent most of his adult life in Oklahoma working as a carpet layer. He loved his family and was so proud of his grandkids and nieces and nephews. He loved telling the same stories over and over and was such a jokester.
He is survived by his daughter, Gale Brewer; son-n-law, Gregory Brewer; grandson, Kyle Brewer; granddaughter, Kayla Brewer; brothers, Burl Williams , Fred Williams, Mac Williams well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation or a Disabled Veteran’s fund.
A visitation will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service honoring Mickey’s life at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park with military honors.
