“On angels wings You were taken away, but in Our hearts, You will always stay.” Frances loved angels and she had almost every artistic interpretation, of them, in her collection.
Frances grew up on a farm, just east of DeWitt. She moved to NLR, as a teenager, to live with an Aunt. Thus, she was able to attend Junior High and High School in the “big city”. This is where she met John, the love of her life, in 9th grade homeroom! Frances was a 1950 graduate of NLR High School. She was very proud to be a Wildcat! She attended Ark State Teachers College ,now known as UCA, in Conway. She was a devoted Christian and faithful servant to our Lord and Savior; every day of her adult life. She was a Missionary, one of the founding members of Military Road Baptist Church. She served there as a dedicated faithful member for many decades. She used her love and gift of teaching for many years. At this church she taught the Bible stories to Pre-School children, helped with every VBS, and later she taught the Women’s SS Bible Class. Additionally, she served as the church secretary/treasurer, for years. She also served as a member of the Gideon Auxiliary; distributing Bibles for many years, helping spread the Good News of CHRIST. Along the way Frances made the time to serve at Camp Siloam, as a teacher/counselor. She kept her teaching skills sharp by attending Christian Conferences, in Glorieta, New Mexico. Frances and John made several missionary trips to Central and South America, over the years. They even found the time to make the trip to Jerusalem and Israel, once. She was always the first one to stop by your house with a casserole, in time of crisis!
Frances loved musicals and plays. She was a season ticket holder at Murry’s Dinner Theater, for nearly 40 years. Frances and John loved going to the shows in Branson. They shared many enjoyable cruises together. She enjoyed a good “table game night”, with family and friends, playing dominos. Over the years, Frances made many people very happy with the wedding and birthday cakes she baked for them .
Frances was a loving Mother, and an amazingly wonderful Grandmother, to her only grandchild Evan. He was also one of her greatest treasures in her life.
Along with her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John J. Hamilton Jr., daughter, Rebekka K. Shaw, son, Keith N. Hamilton, her brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Margaret Hall and nephew, Ray Hall. Frances is survived by her oldest son, John J. Hamilton III and wife, Sondra of Scott, grandson Dr. Evan J. Hamilton and his wife Liz of North Little Rock, her brother L.N. “Buddy” Hall Jr. and his wife Virginia of DeWitt; along with a host of nieces and nephews, which were all very dear to her.
