Frances Carole Yarbrough was born on August 28, 1938, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Frank and Iris Masserano. She entered Heaven on July 4, 2026, gaining her true Independence Day from this life at the age of 87 years old. She was married to the Rev. Dr. W.H. Yarbrough and they recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.
Carole grew up in a minister’s home and was able to help them by her ability to play many instruments well. She attended Humes High School in Memphis and was in the band. From there she met the love of her life, W.H. Yarbrough, and they were married on June 7, 1958.
They began their life together as evangelists, traveling across the nation singing and preaching the gospel. Her family had a radio program on KSUD in Memphis, where she held the number one spot for many weeks with the song, “I’ll Never Be Lonely.”
In 1968, they moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas and planted a church, Christian Assembly. The church grew rapidly and finally built their permanent location in Sherwood, Arkansas on Highway 107.
In 1979, they moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana where they pastored Westlake Assembly of God, later renamed Lake Area Worship Center for over 25 years. There they experienced growth, expanding the facilities and having their own radio and television programs reaching thousands each week.
Carole attended McNeese State University graduating with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. She furthered her education at Logos Graduate School, attaining a Master of Sacred Music degree as well. She also received her Certified License as a minister with the Assemblies of God.
She enjoyed teaching piano and taught hundreds of students over the years. She played both the piano and organ for many Assemblies of God state functions. She was a tremendous singer, songwriter and musician. She loved to sing songs that would touch the heart and give glory to the Lord. Over the years she recorded many albums and C.D.’s which have been enjoyed by many people around the country.
The Yarbrough’s planted The Sanctuary Church in Moss Bluff, Louisiana in 2008. The church started out in a shopping mall that quickly grew to build their new facilities located on North Perkins Ferry Road.
After semi-retiring in 2018, W.H. and Carole relocated to Sherwood, Arkansas to be closer to family. They continued to help in the ministries of Christian Assembly up until very recently.
Carole is survived by her husband of 68 years, W.H. Yarbrough. Two sons, Hugh (Pamela) Yarbrough, Darrell (Kristen) Yarbrough. Seven grandchildren, Whitney Yarbrough, Will (Lauren) Yarbrough, Noah (Candyce) Yarbrough, Kathryn Yarbrough, Lauryn (Noah) De Mers, Eryn (Jacob) Decker, Jennifer (Aaron) Coffer.
Five great-grandchildren, Oliver, Annie Kate, Kalia, Knox, Charlee
Viewing will be held at Christian Assembly, 10601 Highway 107, Sherwood, Arkansas 72120 on Thursday, July 9th, from 6pm - 8pm, and on Friday, July 10th, viewing will resume at 9am with a Celebration Service starting at 10am.
A private family graveside will follow the service and be held at Memphis Memorial Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Road, Memphis, TN 38134.
