Fred was born on November 17th, 1949 in Wynne, AR, to Willis and Maxine Arthur. He served four years in the Air Force National Guard. Fred spent most of his adult life as a truck driver and received recognition for a Million Miles. He retired from the State of Arkansas in April of 2018. On September 5th, 2003, he married Diana Thomas.
Fred had a passion for motorcycles, guns and all things John Wayne and John Deere. He loved to fly model airplanes and to go camping. When the weather was warm he enjoyed motorcycle rides with his wife Diana, his brother David, and close friend Rodney O’Shields. He was known for his unwavering willingness to help anyone who needed it, cowboy boots and shirts with snap buttons. He was a man’s man and a country boy at the core with a kind smile and a heart for his serving family and friends. Fred was a member of NLC in Cabot, Arkansas.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, Willis, and his mother, Maxine. He is survived by his wife Diana, two step-daughters, Stephanie (husband JD) and Melissa (wife Amy), his sister Rae (husband Richard), his brother David (wife Nancy), four step-grandchildren, Sydney, Maxwell, Gabriel and Camryn, one niece and one nephew and many cousins, including Wanda Spruill, with whom he had a treasured relationship.
Visitation service will be held on Friday, February 22nd, 2019 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon with a Memorial service to follow at 2 o’clock at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
