Mr. Gene Ellis

Gene Ellis, 85 of North Little Rock was born on October 3, 1928 and went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2014. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to go RVing. He was an Air Force veteran and a road driver for ABF; logging over 1 million miles before retiring. Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Lovell; parents Gus and Osie Ellis of Harrisburg, AR; brother Billy Ellis and sister Geraldine Harris of Harrisburg, AR, and son-in-law Rick Holleman of North Little Rock. He is survived by daughters Sherrie (Jeff) Smith and Melanie Holleman of North Little Rock and Teressa (Pete) Rambo of Scott; son Donald (Quenan) Ellis of Sherwood; 9 grand children and 12 great grand children. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Patsy Kennedy of Green Forest, AR and a brother-in-law, Billy Best of Harrisburg, AR, along with many nieces and nephews. Gene was baptized late in life which his family saw as a testimony to God’s love for him. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church, 1723 Schaer Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas, 72114 toward their grief ministry. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Robinson Nursing and Rehabilitation and Gentiva Hospice for their loving care, prayers and support. Visitation and funeral will be held on Saturday, August 16 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock. The visitation will be at 1:30 with the funeral starting at 2:00 PM.
