George Allen Albaugh

On Friday, Aug 28, 2026, we lost our Georgie, age 93. He lived a long, full life filled with love and adventures. He will be bummed he didn’t make it to free beer day,

His parents, Emerson and Mable (Schimmel) Albaugh welcomed him on Dec. 23, 1932, in Forest Indiana.

His four brothers, Harold, Robert, Eugene and sister, Joan proceeded him in death. Also, the mother of his sons, Peggy (Hendrix) Albaugh. He recently lost his beloved schnauzer, Schatzi who will be giving him all the kisses he deserves.

His wife of 45 years, Cindy Lee (Kubitz) Albaugh survives him along with his sons, Bruce A. Albaugh of La Belle, FL, Tracy J. Albaugh of Frankfort, IN, and stepson William P. Grady of El Paso TX; along with his grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

George served in the Navy from 1951 – 1954 on the USS Bexar as a damage control man. He spent time in San Diego, Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea before retuning home to Indiana where he worked on The Nickel Plate and Norfolk and Western railroads as a brakeman.

George loved to fish the lakes of Indiana with his family and buddies. Always a card player he especially enjoyed buck euchre at the smoke shop and the dealer’s choice poker where he bluffed his way through many a game. He had years of adventures traveling in an RV through the US, Canada and Mexico. He spent 18 years in Paamul Mexico enjoying sunshine and the ocean where he played horshoes every morning for 5 pesos a game, not including side bets, talking smack and drinking coffee. His favorite stories were about the summer spent in the Yukon Territory mining gold and pulling a 35’ fifth wheel through the back roads of Mexico.
