Georgia Linn Hollowell, 90, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was born in Buna, Texas on June 7, 1933. Georgia was a proud Texan and especially proud of her hometown of Buna. She later fell in love with the state of Arkansas and her adopted home of North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Georgia grew up and attended grade school in Buna, and then later moved to Los Angeles, California where her mother pursued a career in entertainment. At the age of 8 with her beloved older sister (Betty) age 9, they returned to Texas on a 2-day bus ride to eventually live with their grandparents (Johnny Valentine and Linnie Withers, affectionately known as Big Mama and Big Papa). Georgia attended Buna high school with over a dozen first cousins from the Withers extended family. She and her sister Betty were star basketball players at Buna High School.
Georgia graduated from Buna High School in 1950. After high school Georgia attended Southwestern Business University in Houston, Texas. While there, she met her husband H.A. “Smokey” Hollowell and married shortly thereafter (February 28, 1952). For the next two years they were apart while Smokey served in the Army in Germany during the Korean War.
Georgia’s career started at Sun Oil Co. in Houston as the secretary to the CEO where she learned many lessons that later would help define her business savvy and management style. Once her husband returned from the service, they had two daughters and a son. They moved several times in Texas and Arkansas to support her husband’s career finally settling in North Little Rock in 1976.
In late 1976, Georgia joined Rector, Phillips & Morse as a real estate Sales Agent in their North Little Rock office. Georgia was number two in production that first year and had over one million dollars in sales. This was the first of many years in a row where she was a member of the real estate million-dollar club. She quickly earned her broker license becoming the top woman and then overall top producer of the RPM North Little Rock Office. She was awarded the Pulaski County Realtor of the year in 1983. Then pursuing her long-time desire to own and run their own business, Georgia and her husband Smokey opened the Georgia Hollowell and Associates Real Estate company in 1986. Shortly thereafter, Smokey passed after a short battle with cancer and 35 years of marriage as best friends. Georgia continued as the leader of Georgia Hollowell and Associates. She grew a successful business building a team of diverse agents representing a diverse set of clients. The company built a reputation on integrity, honesty, hard work and doing what it took to close a deal. She had a passion for helping everyone, and loved every minute working to help her clients find their dream house, especially those that were buying their first home.
In addition to her successful professional career, Georgia helped give back to her community. Her accomplishments and community involvement included 35 years in the North Little Rock Rotary (many with perfect attendance), Baptist Health Hospital Community Board, and the NLR Boys and Girls Club. She was also a Certified Real Estate Specialist, Lifetime member of the Million Dollar club, and part of the North Little Rock Executive Network. Georgia was appointed to the Arkansas Real-Estate Commission by Governor Bill Clinton and was a longtime supporter to President Clinton and wife Hillary.
Georgia was a long-time member of Shephard of the Hills Lutheran Church in North Little Rock, as her faith guided her whole life.
Georgia is survived by her children Mary Linn (Tom) Clifford of Richardson, Texas; Melanie (Jon) Roberts of Sherwood; and Jeff (Justine) Hollowell of Conway. She has always been known as GeGe and loved by her seven grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Michael, Lauren, Jake, Erika, Kaden and eight great grandchildren Eric, Georgia, Parker, Charlee, John, Cooper, Olivia, Caroline and dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
