Gloria Faye Burgess

Gloria Faye Burgess, 89, of Jacksonville, AR passed away August 24, 2026. She was born November 15, 1936, in West Palm Beach, Florida to Frank Alexander Knowles and Lillian M. Young. Gloria was married in September 1955 to the late Jimmie R. Burgess for 67 years and they lived their life in quite a few different places as Jimmie was in the Air Force. They were stationed in various states as well as the Azores and Japan. She enjoyed sewing and cooking; she could be found at her sewing machine creating many different items, as well as making most of Judy's school clothes growing up. They would pick out fabric together every year when school started; she was an avid reader and crafter. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and best friend. She loved us unconditionally. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roy, Ralph; sisters, Mae Diehl, Dorothy Gill and Phyllis Durst; grandchildren Jeffrey Charles Akins

She leaves behind to cherish her memory; children, Judy (Ron) Akins and Steven Burgess; grandchildren Jimmie III (Michelle), Ronald D..Akins, Jr. (Hollie) Steven Burgess II , Olivia Burgess and Hali Free; great grandchildren Madelyn Paige Akins; Brother Ellis Knowles; and many other relatives and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday, August 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR, 72117

Mrs. Gloria Faye Burgess will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
