Gordon Burrington, a man whose life was defined by dedication, service, and an undeniable desire for bringing people together for fun, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026 in Little Rock at the age of 87. He was surrounded by the warmth of family and friends that he spent a lifetime protecting, supporting, and bringing joy. Though he will be greatly missed by all those who knew him, his memory and impact lives on through the many people he shared his life with.
Born on August 21, 1938 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Gordon was the son of the late Frank Temple Burrington and Constance Pearl Jackman Burrington. He grew up in Lyndonville, Vermont before his strong work ethic and determination led him to leave home and join the U.S. Air Force, where he faithfully served his country around the world for 22 years. Even after his military service, instead of retiring Gordon chose to move into civil service at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
To know Gordon was to have a confidant who truly listened, impartially, and a man you could always depend on for support. He was honest, appreciated hard work, and enjoyed figuring out how things worked. He loved to work with his hands and he knew his way around all manner of things. From woodworking in the garage to building golf clubs and fixing cars, he was deeply committed to his hobbies. He played as hard as he worked, and you would often find him playing a round of 18 on the golf course, belting out classic and western favorites at karaoke, boogieing on the dance floor, or carefully sliding a puck down the shuffleboard, always in the company of friends. What he was perhaps known for best was always wanting and ensuring the people around him had a good time.
Gordon’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, who will forever cherish memories of his at-home karaoke studio and the many nights shared at The Eagles and The Moose. He is remembered as a hero, a friend, a confidant, a mentor, and a loving father and proud grandfather.
Gordon is survived by his adoring and devoted daughter, Lisa Armstrong, who carried his heart through his final days, his loving companion and significant other for 24 years, Saundra Morton, and a large, cherished circle of siblings, grandchildren, extended family, and lifelong friends who will forever miss him. Special recognition is also given to Melody Rowlett, who provided steady and comforting support to Gordon and his family in the last weeks of his life.
Gordon has been reunited in peace with his parents, Frank and Constance, and his beloved son, Jeffrey Burrington, who went before him.
Though the music in his karaoke studio has gone quiet, the echo of Gordon’s words, his unwavering friendship, and his generous spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him. When you raise a glass, sing a song, swing a golf club, or need a reminder of fun times, think of Gordon and know that he is on your side.
