

Harry Sherman Arnes, a cherished family man, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, at the age of 88. Born in Barron County, Wisconsin, to Bud and Harriette Ruth Rutter, Harry's life was marked by service, adventure, and a kind heart.
After serving over two decades in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant, Harry continued his career in computer technology. He worked as a programmer, analyst, and manager at Anchorage Telephone Utility, taking pride in his meticulous work and dedication.
A passionate outdoorsman, Harry found joy in fishing, hunting, and golfing. He was particularly fond of salmon fishing on the Kenai River in Alaska, where he and Jackie created cherished memories.
A dedicated sports enthusiast, Harry enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, and football in his youth. He later transitioned to umpiring, coaching, and fervently supporting his children's athletic pursuits. He was also a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Major League Baseball.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, beloved grandmother Ruth Arnes, and siblings Marlys Johnson, Barbara Wickboldt, and Lyle Arnes. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jackie Mae Arnes; their four children, Christina Lee (Michael) Hall, Harry Stuart (Leesa) Arnes, Michele Susan (Brent Miller) Hoffman, and Rebecca Ruth (Bill) Baker; their grandchildren, Beverly, Jannis, Marquel, Zachary, Wesley, Dalton, Colton, Brent, Adelaide, Katie, and Sammy; their great-grandchildren, Nate, Emiley, Isaak, Tristan, Lucas, Ezekiel, Lucy, Owen, Hugo, Ellie, and Katie; his brother, Dick Reese; sister-in-law, Georgia Duff; brother-in-law Jim Wickboldt; and numerous extended family and friends.
Harry’s legacy of love, kindness, and perseverance will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.
To honor Harry’s passion for the Green Bay Packers and Arkansas Razorbacks, please wear the team colors. Traditional attire is welcomed as well.
