Jack Dempsey Vales
September 9, 1940 – November 13, 2019
Mr. Jack Dempsey Vales, 79, of North Little Rock passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. Jack was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 9, 1940 to parents Gordon Hampton Vales and Lucille Geneva Halpaine Vales. At the age of 18, Jack was working in Little Rock as a Delivery Boy for Western Union when he decided to enlist in the Army National Guard of Arkansas and entered into the service on February 10, 1958. He served honorably until his discharge on February 10, 1964. Jack was very proud to have served his country. He later worked for Interstate Sign for a number of years.
Jack never married and did not have children of his own but he was instrumental in raising his great nephew, Robert, who remembers his Uncle Jack as one who helped take care of him when he was little and was always there for him as he grew up – from making sure that Robert had the things a young boy needed to showing him how to build and play in forts made out of cardboard. The things that counted. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Lucille Vales; his sister Mary Vales; his nephew, Bobby Criswell and his beloved dog, Samantha. He is survived by his great nephew, Robert Criswell (Melissa); great niece, Teresa Escobedo; great nephew, Dwayne Criswell and great niece, Dawnielle Criswell.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 23rd at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 Highway 5 North, Alexander, Arkansas with the Arkansas Army National Guard rendering Military Honors.

I remember Jack from Interstate Highway Sign Corp. I worked with Jack for many years. He was a very loyal, hard working, exemplary employee and one of the nicest men I ever met at Interstate. I am so sorry to hear of his death
Prayers and condolences to his family!
