

James (Jim) Bryan Bowen of Jacksonville, Arkansas was born August 15, 1936 in Tuckerman Arkansas to Willard Woodson Bowen and Ina Ann Berry Bowen. God welcomed Jim home on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. He was a member of Holden Avenue Church of Christ in Newport, Arkansas. He was preceeded in death by his parents Woodson and Ina Bowen and two sons, Chet Bowen and Bryan Bowen. He is survived by his wife, Paula Sue Grimes Bowen of Jacksonville; his sister, Shirley Campbell of Gravel Ridge; three sons and one daughter, Rick Bowen and wife, Jeanne of Jane, Missouri, Doug Bowen of Elkins, Sean Bowen of North Little Rock and Cassie Stokes and husband, Eric of Holly Grove; daughter-in-law Christy Bowen. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jeremy Bowen and Jennifer Bowen of Orlando, Florida; Alex Bowen of Bryant, Arkansas; Specialist Andrew Bowen and wife Elizabeth of Fort Stewart, Georgia; Candice Bowen and Tori Bowen of Clarendon, Arkansas; Jake Bowen of North Little Rock, Arkansas; and Kacey Stokes of Holly Grove, Arkansas; two great-grandchildren: Alianna Tyler of Clarendon, Arkansas and Easton Bowen of Fort Stewart, Georgia; and one nephew, Scott Campbell of Clarendon and a host of other friends and family. Jim loved life and to laugh. He was an avid Razorback Fan, having followed them in all sports his entire life. He is proud of his “Razorback Room” and was always seen sporting some type of Hog memorabilia. Jim loved golf even though he had not been able to play in some time. In addition to these two things, Jim also loved movies and music. He has a movie collection with over 5000 movies that cover from the beginning of the movie industry to modern day and includes every genre. Jim’s taste in music was as varied as his movie collection, but Frank Sinatra was his favorite artist and he had collected all his music released by Sinatra under every label. But above all else, Jim loved his family and spending time with them. A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20th in the chapel at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 21st at the funeral home.
