I had picked some "late" purple hull peas, and I was shelling them....you know the hulls start splitting open on the dried late peas. The task is pretty tedious. James and Judy came over for supper, and James came out where I was shelling peas, he said, " we used to take the late peas, put them in a paper bag, and shake them real hard for a few minutes, and it shakes the peas out of the pod". Well, I tried it and it worked like a charm. I always enjoyed him telling me about some of the old ways of doing things on the farm....I will miss him greatly
