Mr. Nye served 26 years in the United States Air Force. He served time in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He traveled to many places throughout the United States and overseas. He achieved many awards and commendations throughout his career. After retiring from the Air Force, he went on to serve 17 years in the Civil Service.
He was predeceased by his wife, Doris J. Nye of 61 years; Peggy Shamberger (daughter); Betty Minyard (daughter), and survived by daughters, Marion Wagner (Larry); Jamie Hutchins (Daryl); Susan Logan (Hardy), and Harvenia Grimsley. He is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
He was cared for and loved by the administration and staff at The Manor, Assisted Living Facility in Benton, Arkansas.
Visitation will be Monday, August 30, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. with military honors. Services will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or any charity of your choice.
