Jerry Alvin Shew

Jerry Alvin Shew, 85, of North Little Rock passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born on April 17, 1935 in Paris, Texas; the son of Alvin “Happy” Shew and Helen (Hutchings) Shew. He married Joy (Luck) Shew on September 6, 1953 and they shared 67 years of loving marriage. He moved his family to the Little Rock area from Mtn.Home around 1975. He is a member of Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene of North Little Rock. Jerry enjoyed playing guitar, he sang and played the guitar in the Ozarks Quartet, enjoyed fishing, and playing sports. Mostly he loved spending time with his family. The family remembers him as the hardest worker they have ever met. Above all he loved the Lord and taught his family the love of the Lord. He will be sorely missed.

Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Joy, sons Benny Shew of Conway, AR., Johnny Shew and his wife Karen of Cotter, AR., daughters Brenda Gardner and her husband Terry of Clever, MO., Cynthia Vaughn of North Little Rock, nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and his brother Darrell Shew and his wife Beth of Helena, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Jody Shew.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2020 in Rest Hills Memorial park at the gazebo, beginning at 1:00 pm with Brother Johnny Shew and Brother Paul Holderfield Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy L Gardner, Grant Whaley, Andrew Henry, Terry Gardner, Joshua Shew, Joshua Shew Jr., Micah Shew, Alfonzo Gonzales, and Mike Gatton. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Jerry’s honor to the Friendly Chapel Food Pantry, 116 South Pine, North Little Rock, AR. 72114.
