Jimmie Lou McCain Hulett, 82 passed away on March 11, 2026 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on May 21, 1943, to the late Jimmy and Marjorie McCain, and was raised alongside her late step-father, Ray Elner. Her late grandmother, Marie Walker (married to Eagle Walker), was a very important person to her while she was growing up. She married the love of her life, Frank “Harry” Hulett, who preceded her in death on December 12, 2020. She is survived by her two sons: Jerry Ray Hulett and Jimmy Frank Hulett; her grandchildren: Zachary (Stephanie) Hulett, Jessica (David) Kivell, Candace (Jeff) Hulett Carney, and Chase Hulett; and her great-grandchildren: Felix, Boston, Hazel, and Jimmie Lou Kivell (proudly named in her honor).
If you were lucky enough to have met Jimmie Lou in her life, you can probably still vividly remember her generosity and motherly nature. By the time you parted ways, you probably felt like a part of her family, and she definitely had your family tree memorized.
The most important thing to Jimmie Lou was just that: Family. She dedicated her life to the health and happiness of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was nurturing, loyal, and strong — the steady presence her family leaned on and the safe place they could always return to. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or holiday, and she kept every card, letter, and masterpiece of art that her grandchildren had ever given her. She kept countless blankets, clothes, and other keepsakes as her family grew up because to her, those things were pieces of family history and therefore precious and priceless.
She and Harry built their forever home on her family’s property and together they filled it with laughter, memories, and countless sentimental knickknacks. She had both of her sons as neighbors, and her home was the constant destination of bored and/or hungry grandchildren. Despite everyone’s best efforts, her floors were always swept and mopped, and the laundry was somehow always folded and ironed. The candy dishes seemed to never run dry no matter how many kids happened to be around.
Holidays were celebrated with enthusiasm and love. Her Easter baskets were beautifully wrapped and overflowing with treats, and at Christmas her home was filled with decorations — each one with a story she could proudly tell about who gave it to her and when.
Harry was a founding member of Rixie Hunting Club. Every deer season, if you couldn’t find Jimmie Lou in the camp making every member, guest, spouse, and child feel welcome, then she was probably out in the woods hunting for her next big buck. She loved deer hunting and continued going to camp all the way up until her last Thanksgiving. At last count, she had taken over 50 deer in her lifetime!
Deer camp was a place where her sons grew up, and later where her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathered to hunt, play cards around the table, and sit by the fire late into the night sharing stories.
Later in life, Jimmy Lou enjoyed cutting loose with dear friend Betty Fisher. They especially loved to visit Oaklawn Casino Resort where they played the slots, shared meals, and often had a grand time late into the night. Having a wonderful friend like Betty brought a great deal of joy and much needed comfort into her life after the loss of Harry.
More than anything, Jimmie Lou was the heart of her family — their comfort, their safe place, and the keeper of their memories.
Her life reminds all of us to love our families deeply. Call your parents and grandparents. Sit with them. Talk with them. Stay a little longer and create the memories that matter most.
Though we grieve the passage of Jimmie Lou Hulett, we are comforted by the fact that she is finally reunited with her true love, Harry, and that he finally gets to taste her famous bologna sandwiches once again.
