He spent most of his young life in Jacksonville, Florida before entering the military.
John was a very dedicated military man serving in the Army and Air Force. He served honorably for 21 years. He had much respect for the military and always prided himself for being a part of the military team.
John was of the Methodist faith.
He was chief of police in Jacksonville, Arkansas for several years. For a number of years John was a sky marshal and was very proud of his position. He made many trips to foreign countries, primarily South America.
He is survived by wife, Katherine Shepherd; son, Steven Shepherd of Melbourne Florida; step-son Robert Isbell and his wife Heather of Rowland, Arkansas; several grandchildren; and one brother, Tinsley Shepherd of Jacksonville, Florida.
At his request, John will be cremated with no funeral services.
