Kent grew up in the “crime-free” downtown Gravel Ridge. Kent’s first job, a meat cutter, was at the Little Rock Air Force Base, the same day President Ronald Reagan was sworn into office and lifted a federal hiring freeze. Kent always said President Reagan had a direct impact on his life. The rest of his career involved serving central Arkansas with quality meat products and southern barbecue. Most knew Kent as “Meat Man” because of his involvement on Magic 105, in the early 2000’s. Kent truly enjoyed being on the radio or on the news, discussing how people could get the most bang for their buck.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Frances Berry, his newborn daughter, Emma Joel, and many dear friends. He is survived by his two sons: Tyler Clinton and Samuel Patrick (Madison), and all of his siblings: Bruce, Willard, Robert, Kim and Holly.
Kent will be remembered for his giving heart, quick and witty humor and his love for his two sons.
As Kent would end most of his voicemails:
“This is the Calico-Kid, we’re 10-10 and clear, standing by. Okay, talk to you later!”
