Lance was raised in Little Rock, graduating from Hall High School with the Class of 1979. At the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, he attained a Bachelor of Science in Finance, graduating with the Class of 1985. After college, he earned a variety of securities licenses and joined his father in the investment banking industry, where he was a respected financial advisor known for building trust with his clients. He was a natural and great salesman for a variety of other goods and services he marketed during his life.
In 1998, he married Teresa Marie “Terry” Traylor, with whom he spent 27 joyful years. Lance was a beloved son-in-law to Terry’s late mother and father, Rita and Robert Traylor, and a favorite brother-in-law to Terry’s six brothers and sisters, and their children and grandchildren, now numbering 29 lives in being. Lance and Terry spent many cherished hours at the Traylor family home, watching sporting events, celebrating birthdays, holidays, and other gatherings filled with laughter, food, drinks, and family traditions.
An avid and talented golfer, Lance enjoyed the game both for sport and for the friendships it nurtured along the way. Lance was a great cook, and always volunteered to man the grill, help prepare the food, and wash the dishes. Lance was a talented and patient angler, and especially enjoyed the comradery of a 40 year traditional “White River Twist and Shout, Razor-Trout” fish camp. He was comfortable with a paddle in high white water. His wit, generosity, and easygoing charm earned him lifelong friends, and his presence made every room warmer and every story funnier. His favorite time was spent with his two sons and four grandchildren, often cheering on the Razorbacks.
Lance was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sons: Landon Nicholas Boykin (Danielle), and their children, Scout, Finn, and Beck; and Blake Austin Boykin, and his child, DaisyMae. He is also survived by Lance’s sister, Tamie Boykin Linson (Albert); wife, Terry; and a host of dear friends who will forever cherish his high-pitched laugh, loyalty to a fault, and love for life.
Lance will be deeply missed by all who knew him: family, friends, colleagues, and the many lives he touched with his kindness and good humor. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or by forgiving a lowly sinner. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, with services to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Lance will be laid to rest at Rest Hills Memorial Park after the service.
