Heaven gained an Angel on July 24, 2026, and I lost my best friend. Lori (Cheeky) Forrest was the most wonderful friend I've ever had. She was responsible for so much good in my life.  She brought my amazing, loving husband and I together in September 2016.  She helped me move into my new house in May 2016.  I got terrible buyer's remorse when I purchased my house in January 2016.  I was depressed and lonely and couldn't find the energy to unpack my boxes and decorate my house.  Cheeky flew by herself to Dallas (she was terrified of flying but did it for me) and we spent the next four days unpacking my many boxes, putting up pictures, putting up shelves in my bathroom, shopping for things to decorate my home with and making my yard look pretty.  She worked so hard and encouraged me (which was what I needed) to do the same.  That was ten years ago, and I still have many of the decorations that we purchased, in the same places.  
I have so many amazing memories of my Cheeky and the ways we have been there for each other over the past 30 years.  We have both lost beloved pets. Cheeky and Mitch lost Bentley, Bailey, Winston, Harley and Elliott.  I've lost Mischief, Mollymop, Minnie and most recently, my husband, Chris Adkins and I lost our sweet, beloved Scruffy.  With the loss of every dog of mine, Cheeky was there for me and, she handmade a memorial stone for me, as only she could.  
Cheeky and I were baptized together at The Journey Church.  What a magnificent day that was, and to have my best friend there next to me was the most amazing thing.  
Mitch and Cheeky Forrest have been the most wonderful friends, and we are so thankful to both of them for all of the wonderful times we've shared together.  
May you rest in Jesus' arms my dear Cheeky, knowing that your work here on earth is done,  
I will love you until the day I die.

I met Lori and Mitch about 20 years ago now at church in Cabot and she immediately drew me in with her incredible warmth. We worked with the youth together and had so many laughs and amazing meals at her house. I remember shopping together and sitting in the sun on her back patio- she had such great style and an amazing tan. In 2009, while my husband was deployed and before I moved to my next Air Force assignment, I sold my home and needed a place to live for several weeks. Mitch and Lori opened their home to me so I wouldn’t be lonely in a hotel or temporary base lodging. What an incredible gift it was to live with them- I was blessed to able to witness the way Mitch and Lori loved one another (I can think of few marriages as warm and close as theirs), to eat her amazing cooking and baking regularly (Mexican lasagna, apple pie, fireside coffee…), to stay up late chatting about life and petting the puppies in her beautifully decorated family room, and to feel completely embraced by Lori and Mitch at a time of so much transition in my life. When I moved to Washington DC, Lori sent me with thoughtful gifts, a hug I can still feel when I close my eyes, and the feeling of being loved so much. I still have those gifts she gave me and think of her often. She was so much fun, such a role model for me, and such an amazing hostess. I looked up to her so much and loved her. I look forward to seeing her again one day and giving her the biggest hug. I am so sorry for your loss, Mitch; what a huge hole she leaves behind. I am so glad you were able to spend so many years together- she loved you so much.

Truly one of the most fun, most talented and kindest people I have had the privilege of sharing so many memories with. Rest in peace, sweet Lori.  And give GPat a hug from me.

I pray the Lord comforts you during this difficult time.  The Lord is taking care of Lori now.

Lori was an awesome person.  She was a shining light to show God’s love.
We had a lot of good times crafting and shopping. Lori, was a great friend and would do anything she could to help anyone .
Mitch put a fence in on the side of my house closest to their house so it would make it easier for Lori to come sit on my deck with me. Most days we had what we called happy hour and she would come over and we had root beer floats or lemonade. I will always value our friendship and love her. I feel better just knowing she is healthy and with the God she loved so much. 
I’ll miss you always!

Lori was so caring to everyone. She loved the child in church and worked every Wednesday to bring joy to their group. I remember how she comforted me after both my parents passed in 2018. She will be missed by all . She was a great example of agape love.

Lori was a special lady and will always be remembered for her love of God, family, and others.  Rick and I are so blessed to have had the opportunity to be known as her friends.  Our hearts are heavy and we will miss her but we know she is walking with Jesus. She is no longer hurting, she is no longer struggling, and her smile is ever so bright. Until we meet again Ms Lori...

Oh, Lori, I miss you. I love you and will carry a piece of your spirit with me everywhere forever. Amen

Lori’s passing breaks my heart and all who knew her feel the hole she left in our lives. I feel blessed to have had her in my life and know the Lord has a sweet new angel. Mitch, she has her reward and I know you will see her again in heaven. You are in my prayers.
