Lucille Yarboro

Lucille Yarboro, age 95, passed away on September 15, 2026. Born April 26, 1931, Lucille was the daughter of Larastius Reedy and Nelly McGuire. Raised in Scott, Arkansas, she grew up as a child of sharecroppers and one of eleven children—seven girls and four boys—carrying forward the steady strength and devotion to family that would shape her life in lasting ways. Lucille was a resident of Scott, Arkansas.

Lucille and her husband, Don Richard, raised six children, and her home became a place where people felt welcomed, cared for, and well-fed. She took special joy in hosting family and friends for holidays, special occasions, and everyday dinners, living out a generosity that made others feel they belonged. There was, as many knew, always room for one more at the table. When her sister Nellie once asked how she managed to cook for so many, Lucille answered simply: you just open another can of something.

Her warmth showed in the everyday things she loved—cooking, fishing, sewing, crochet, and gardening—each one an expression of patience, skill, and quiet pride in making life more beautiful and more comfortable for those around her. After her mother passed, Lucille’s house became a gathering spot for the family, a steady center where stories were shared and bonds were kept strong. Her brother GW, when visiting from out of town, was known to walk around with a spoon in his pocket, ready to eat at a moment’s notice—an affectionate testament to the constant comfort of her kitchen.

Lucille worked for Colonial Bakery at three different times in her life, and she also owned and operated Richard Cottages in NLR. Through her work, she demonstrated perseverance and a practical determination, meeting life’s demands with grit and steady purpose.

Faith was an important part of Lucille’s adult life. She attended church for most of her years, taught Sunday school, led women’s prayer groups, and lovingly prepared many dishes for church potlucks and funerals—offering both service and solace through her presence and her hands.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Don Richard; Terry Vickers of Scott, AR; and Frank Richard of Scott, AR.

She is survived by her five children: Judy Vickers; Carolyn Clark (Ronnie) of little Rock, AR; Mary Richard of Scott, AR; Barbara Rapier & (Ken) of Ennis, TX; Kenneth Richard of Scott, AR; and Libby Fisk &( Darrel ) of Heber Springs, AR; along with seventeen grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday, September 21, 2026, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR 72117. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM with Pastor William Pearson officiating, followed by the Committal at 11:00 AM at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR 72117.
