Marvin Thomas Smith, a devoted man of faith and family, passed peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father. Born the beloved son of Clifford and Pauline Smith, Marvin grew up under the example of steadfast parents who instilled in him a deep and unwavering dedication to God. At a young age, he chose to be baptized, and from his teenage years onward he lived as a shining testimony of God’s love, humility, and grace.
Marvin’s life was marked by loyalty, gentleness, and strength. A true blue soul, dependable and kind, he was the steady rock to those who knew him. He honorably served his country as an Army Specialist in the Reserves, carrying with him a quiet pride in service and devotion to duty.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Marvin built his career in the wholesale produce industry, where his work ethic and integrity earned the trust of all who worked alongside him. Later in life, he discovered a love for the land in a new way, cultivating a fig farm in Rose City. Gardening became not just a livelihood but a joy—an outward reflection of the nurturing spirit that guided his entire life.
Marvin will be remembered as a sweet man of God, who sowed seeds of love, faith, and faithfulness in every life he touched. His legacy is one of devotion—to his Lord, to his family, to honest work, and to the beauty of creation itself.
Marvin leaves behind his children: Kimberly Smith, Kelly Gideon, Amanda Sharp, Jeremy Smith, and his son-in-law Calvin Sharp. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Ralph Smith (Roylene), Linda Nesterenko (Alex), Dale Smith (Barbara), and Paula Hartsell (Jack). His joy continued through his grandchildren: Asheley and Kayla Brewer, Daulton (Sunnie) Gideon, and Olivia and Keathon Sharp, and through the next generation of great-grandchildren: A’Kiya, Kingston, Gideon, and Sterling Perry.
He was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Clifford and Pauline Smith, and by his dear niece, Tina Nesterenko-Day.
Marvin’s life was a garden of blessings, and though he will be deeply missed, the seeds he planted continue to grow in all who knew and loved him. His faith, kindness, and steadfast spirit will forever remain rooted in the hearts of his family and friends.
