Throughout her life, Mary was a regular attendee at Lakewood United Methodist Church, Levy Methodist Church, and Rice Memorial Baptist Church. She retired after dedicating 42 years to her career as an accountant at Federal Surplus.
Mary found pleasure in shopping and building her collections of beanie babies and cow figurines. She was an active member of the Heart Healthy Heifers walking group, enjoying her time outdoors and the friends she made there. She had a fondness for animals, especially her beloved basset hounds, Sissy and Ellie.
She is survived by her husband, Dewey Magar; one son, Jason Castillow; six grandchildren, Jordan Castillow. Haley Castillow, Maiya Castillow, Randall James, Meilani Sheppard, and Giovanni Sheppard; one sister, Pat Curren; sister-in-laws, Nancy (Steve) Rea, and Louise Joiner (Michael Dupslaff); aunts, Dot Douglas, and Rita Douglas; and bonus daughters, Lorn (Josh) Alexander and Rashidah Sheppard.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband, Robert Castillow.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday May 31, 2024 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held Saturday June 1, 2024 at 11:00 am with Funeral Services at 12 pm at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carol Grace officiating. Mary will be laid to rest following the service in Rest Hills Memorial Park.
