Ray graduated from Kansas State University in 1966 with a degree in Business. He was especially proud of having paid his own way through college, a reflection of his determination, independence, and strong work ethic. During his time at K-State, he was a member of the ACACIA Fraternity and completed Officer Training School before joining the United States Air Force.
Over the next 25 years, Ray built a distinguished military career. He first served as a helicopter pilot and later as an airplane pilot, flying C-130s and C-141s. His service took him around the world, including assignments in Ramstein, Germany; Japan; and several states across the United States. One of his final duty stations was Jacksonville, Arkansas, where he chose to retire and make North Little Rock his permanent home. Ray retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
In 1967, Ray married Nancy Evans, and together they raised three children: Shawna, Greg, and Tonya. Ray cherished his family deeply and took great pride in the life they built together.
Ray loved sports—especially playing basketball—and he also enjoyed antiques, history, and poker. He was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge, where he formed many enduring friendships around the poker table.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his children, Shawna, Greg, and Tonya; and his granddaughter, Natalie. His family will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
He will be remembered for his dedication to service, his warm spirit, his determination, and the meaningful connections he made throughout his life.
