Robert Owen Brown, 78, of Sherwood died peacefully in sleep on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. The second son to Guy and Stella Brown, Robert was born on October 4, 1943, in Milwaukee, WI. The Brown family moved to Sheridan, Arkansas when Robert was 2 years old.
Robert began a 39- year career with the city of Little Rock as a Youth Core Director. With dedication and continued education in Civil Engineering, he attained and ended his career as Plans Development Administrator. Throughout his career, he received many honors, including Employee of the Year for the City of Little Rock, and the respected “Polish the Rock” award (presented by the City Beautiful Commission), for outstanding dedication and service.
Robert was a long-standing member and beloved Minister of Philadelphia Church of God. Robert was first ordained a deacon, and later a minister in 1997. He served the Central Arkansas Congregation, as well as many others (Nashville and Jackson, TN, Tupelo, MS, and Bella Vista, AR) during his 24 years of service.
Robert loved music, spending many hours of his youth playing the cornet; later teaching himself piano. He had a special gift for telling stories, enjoyed landscaping, and most importantly, loved spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley, his son, David Brown, his daughter Alicia Morley (James), his brother Guy Brown (Kathy) and his three grandsons, Tristan, Gavin and Jameson Morley.
